Villa Capanne sits in the 1,000-hectare private Antognolla estate, amid gentle rolling hills and centuries old Cypresses.
The colours in the valley represent the changing seasons, where it’s fields, olive groves and vineyards are a small corner of paradise, where time appears to have stood still.
One must go back through the centuries to understand Castello di Antognolla’s beginnings.
Legend has it that Lucio Antonio, brother of Marc Antonio (Cleopatra), having been defeated by Augustus in the siege of Perugia in 40 A.D., retreated to this place, giving Antognolla it’s name. Subsequently, confirmed by architectural records, Antognolla became the site of a Benedictine Monastery in 1174.
Today the Antognolla Castle, classified as a national monument, is currently being restored. Within the estate there is a championship golf course and many walking trails through the woods providing a wonderful opportunity for those interested in the local flora and fauna.
